Face: 07.10.2004. - 28.05.2008.

Sad day today: Face died...
I remember when her breeder Irene wrote me about her: I felt very lucky because Irene does not usually breed "my" colours. But she gave me "Face", full name: Face's Tochter von Werne. She had a pedigree which I appreciate: Phantom vom Hölkenbusch - Face of High Society.
During the years, Face produced some outstanding litters here, and she has become one of the most important milestones in my breeding. Her children, grandchildren, and other offspring are well represented here, and in several other caviaries.
She was special. I am so sorry I could not cure her illness... :o(((

Face war etwas Besonderes. Vielen Dank, Irene, für sie!

Best tank ever! :o)

I visited the Interzoo trade fair last week. It is the biggest event in Europe for the "pet industry". It is held in Nürnberg (Germany) every two years. The 11 huge halls housed an unbelievable number of trade stands from all over the world, from the most prestigious big dog/cat food companies to the smallest, specialised businesses.
You could see the newest dog and cat foods, the latest technical developments of aquaristics, but also the latest trends in dog clothing for example... And many other interesting things you can - and can't - imagine.

Some details of the show this year:
- biggest trade show of the pet business in the world
- 1436 exhibitors from 54 countries
- 37.000 visitors

Site of the event: http://www.interzoo.com/

Anyway, the stangest thing ever: an underwater aquarium landscape with cows. Strange but true: you can decorate your tanks with anything now...

Russia: 272 points

Well, another Eurovision Song Contest is over. I was not really impressed by the songs (neither was I last year...), but anyway, congrats to Russia this time!
Special feature of the Russian song was the Hungarian violinist Edwin Marton, so we had at least a little part in the success. :o)

You can find all contestants (also from previous years) on Youtube.

(The Hungarian song did not make it to the final. No wonder, I am afraid...)

Our recent guest: Stacy

"Fine" (see below) has not arrived alone: her father, Cavatina's Stacy will stay at the Brentwood Hotel for a while. (Breeder: Anneli Dellermark, Sweden)
Stacy has a phantastic character: he feels at home from the first minute he arrived, and he looks just what I expected.
His pedigree is based on the Swedish Red Rock imports.

Again, many thanks to Ioana for letting me have Stacy!!!

Stacy is a bit out of coat at the moment, but some of his ancestors let you see the hair quality of his line:

Cavatina's Ragtime (father):

Cavatina's Be-Bep-A-Lula (grandmother):

Cavatina's Umbrietta (great-grandmother):

Bumbelbie's Quanta La Mera (great-grandmother):

Fine has arrived today

This is "Fine" (Impala Fine Quality), our new sheltie baby sow. Her father is Cavatinas Stacy (imp. Sweden), and her mother Impala Dazzling Surprize. I am very pleased to have her because Dazzle's pedigree is based on my "old" English imports (Russell, Leon, Kimmie, Jill, Change).
She is... well, just look at this photo... :o)

Many thanks to Ioana (Impala Caviary) for this beautiful present ! ! !

Moscow: the show report is online

From now on, you can read the report and results of the show in Moscow last Saturday on my site (www.brentwoodhotel.hu).

Fireworks

These low quality files do not show the real experience, but that's all I can offer... :o)

Goldagouti boys

During my visit in Moscow, Ivette (vom Mumintal) had her litter of two. Both are goldagouti texel boys. That's a pity for me, as I wanted to keep a daughter from Ivette for very long... One of the boys will probably be for sale (they carry slate blue). (Father: Walt Disney at Brentwood Hotel).

Judging in Moscow again

I received an invitation to judge at a special cavy show in Russia at the beginning of May. The "Cavy World" club in Moscow organized an event and I certainly could not resist.

I spent a wonderful weekend in the city. Friday, the 9. of May was a special day for Russian people: the Day of Victory (end of Second World War) was celebrated. A parade and also great fireworks were organized. We watched the fireworks from near Lomonosov University: a huge and beautiful building in a nice green part of the town.

Photos can not reflect the real sight, but let's give it a try anyway:

Typical crazy tourist: wants to be in the photo everywhere... :o)

Some impressions of the show (Moscow, 10. May 2008.)

The show was a special show for the hair structure breeds (Rex, US Teddy, Swiss Teddy, Texel, Merino, Alpaca) and Skinnies. About 140 animals were entered, and almost all of them were present. That was quite a lot for one day, but organisation and people helping in the ring were professional, so judging went on fluently all day. I was pleased to be able to see many exceptional cavies, breeders can be very proud of their winners.

A detailed report including the winners' list will be available on my site (http://www.brentwoodhotel.hu/) soon.
Here you have just a few photos which try to represent the quality I could experience.

Alpacas had a very strong competition. Below you see the Baby, Junior and Adult Winners:

Alpaca boar in full coat:

US Teddies: best boar and sow, both golden-white:

Best boar and sow in Rex. Perfect type and coat:

Skinnies came in top quality and in a huge variety of colours. Here is my Best of Breed winner:
