Wendina vom Hohen Stein

Finally, the first photos of Wendina. She has developed nicely, and ready to go to a boar. :o)
She is from Quax vom Hohen Stein and Zuleika vom Hohen Stein, coming from various successful German lines, only with black/red background, no dilution. Also, she is a great-granddaughter of MaJa's Yaris.

Budgie Update

New photos of the babies!

The oldest baby. The big one. :o) She is a White-Faced Blue

The second baby. She is a Yellow-faced Recessive Pied. She is my favourite. :o)

The youngest one. Still the smallest, but developing well. As I see on her wings, she is a Recessive Pied, too. I am not sure but I think White-faced.

Cavy Show: Budapest

We had a nice show yesterday in Budapest. The place was nice (although a bit hot), organizers did a great job. It was a newly built community house on the Buda part of our capitol:

Information signs were placed everywhere, so it was easy to find our show:

A huge banner advertised the event near the place. Take a closer look at the photo on the left of it:

Yes! It's Dice and Otto. :o) I did not even know they were photographed at the last event.

Quentin leaves the Hotel

Quentin vom Gotenholz, our tortie-white texel boar moved to "Bly Sky" (Vivien Fonó) this weekend. He will support the texel line there. Many thanks to Alndrea Illmer for letting us have him here in Hungary!
Quentin did not go alone: our red-white sheltie baby sow Miss Sixty at Brentwood Hotel (UK Retro at Brentwood Hotel - It's Ironic at Brentwood Hotel) accompanied him.

Good luck to both of them at Bly Sky!

Show Results: Budapest, 21. 06. 2008: Chase

Chasing Cars at Brentwood Hotel (Piki Kvik Happy Day - Face's Tochter von Werne) was a very promising baby and he is maturing well, too. This was his first show, and he won. In fact, everything: Best of Breed, Junior BIS, BIS, Best of Best, + CR (Championship Challenge)

Was it maybe due to his brilliant colours? :o) :

These are his first babies from Ducky Piglet Kyra. The girl (right) will go back to "Ducky Piglet" as soon as she is old enough to move:

Show Results: Budapest, 21. 06. 2008: Fine

Impala Fine Quality was in top form at the show, but unfortunately she did not win much: first place in her class was all. I was a bit disappointed, but anyway: I am totally sure she will be a top cavy soon. :o)
Thanks, Ioana, for her!

Show Results: Budapest, 21. 06. 2008: Kenzo

Kenzo at Brentwood Hotel (golden agouti texel boar: Walt Disney at Brentwood Hotel - Ivette vom Mumintal) was just old enough for the Baby class, and he did it: won his class and went on as Baby BIS 3!
As maybe he is the last baby from Ivette, I am really pleased and proud of him.

He soon will move to "Lunabakelo", to join the strong agouti team there.

Aliens? No, it's the budgerigar babies! :o)

I cleaned the budgie nest yesterday. I used the little time which their mother spent out of the nest, took the chicks out one by one, and changed the woodshaving. Fortunately, Mum is spending more and more time out because the babies started growing feathers, so they don't need her warmth all day. She ate seeds herself today for the first time for weeks - Dad fed her during this time.
So, I used the time for taking photos, too. Don't be shocked, budgie babies DO look like this in the first weeks. Well, not as cute as newborn texel babies, are they? :o) Anyway, I don't mind, they will look brilliant soon...
They still have a big difference in size, but it is due to their different age: it is normal in the first weeks.

All the three chicks in the nest:

Nr. 1: "The Big One":

Nr. 2: "The Medium":

Nr. 3: "The Youngest":

We have budgie babies!

My second pair of budgerigars have been very busy lately, and we have the results. Mom sits on the nest almost all day round, so I have the chance to check it very rarely. But I was quick enough yesterday: Mom flew out to have a snack, and I could take a look what is inside the nesting box: three little chicks! One of them already quite big, showing some signs of feathers already, and the smallest is like a little bee - but in pink of course. :o) The third chick is somewhere in between. Budgerigar eggs do not hatch on the same day but after each other, so such differences in size are normal. Anyway, I am a bit worried about the small babies. Let's hope everything will go all right...

The N-babies arriving during my stay in Poland

Kyra (Ducky Piglet Kyra) simply decided to have her babies without me... These two were born last Saturday. They are the first litter from Chase (Chasing Cars at Brentwood Hotel), so I am excited to see how they develop. They have no names yet, but they will start with "N".

Great weekend in Warsaw, Poland

The Polish Cavy Club held its show last Saturday, where I had the honour to judge. A pleasant place (the Warsaw Zoo with its huge shady trees), the excellent animals (about 120 cavies were entered) and first of all many friendly people made the day unforgettable. Report of the show will come soon on my site...
I had all next day for sightseeing, and Warsaw is beautiful, so I had a great time. I found a special souvenir, which I simply could not resist... In the national colours of Poland, it originally is intended to hold salt and peper on my kitchen table, but it also expresses my feelings after the phantastic weekend:
